ACRYLIC
Acrylic is a synthetic and chemical material, derived from petroleum. To the touch, it is similar to wool because it is soft and woolly. It is an insulating material, widely used in the fashion industry, especially in sweaters and fake furs.
IS IT ECO-FRIENDLY?
Acrylic is harmful to the environment as well as to human beings. It is a material derived from plastic that pollutes a lot. Moreover, with each wash, it releases toxic micro-particles that end up in the oceans.
Clothes made of acrylic cannot be recycled and their life span is reduced because they are fragile and pilling easily.
WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
It is advisable to use pure, unmixed woollens. Natural materials such as linen or organic cotton can replace synthetic materials.
