CASHMERE

Cashmere is a fine fabric made of goat down. Each year, approximately 15,000 tons of cashmere are produced worldwide, 95% of which is produced in China.

Cashmere is known for its thermal and insulating properties. It is used in the fashion industry mainly for high-end sweaters and household linen.

IS IT ECO-RESPONSIBLE ?

At first glance, cashmere seems to be ecological because of its natural and qualitative animal origin. But in reality, Western consumption of this material has led to intensive cultivation and depopulation of the Mongolian province where cashmere originally came from. The grazing of goats leads to a significant decrease in vegetation and soil erosion.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?

Organic cashmere can be an alternative to traditional cashmere.
