POLYAMIDE
Polyamide is a synthetic material. It is made of plastics from the chemical industry, composed of oil. This material has thermal, strong and mildew resistant properties. Light, waterproof and flexible, polyamide is often found in the lining of coats and jackets, as well as in swimwear, but also in sportswear.
IS IT ECO-FRIENDLY?
Polyamide is not environmentally friendly at all. Indeed, its production is very polluting and requires a large amount of energy and water. Moreover, this material is neither durable nor biodegradable. When washed, it releases plastic micro-particles that end up in the ocean.
WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
Econyl is an alternative to polyamide. Indeed, it is a recyclable material produced with recycled nylon fibers. Its production is less polluting and more environmentally friendly.
Nevertheless, alternative materials can still release plastic micro-particles. It is therefore necessary to limit its consumption.
